JaYy Wick: Empire’s Rising Georgia Rapper Arrested for Attempted Murder at Florida Beach
By DJ Ms. Hypnotique | May 7, 2026
Y’all, I don’t even know where to start with this one. JaYy Wick the Georgia rapper who was literally on his way UP has been arrested on attempted first-degree murder charges out of Panama City Beach, Florida. And the details? Absolutely wild from beginning to end.
Pull up a chair. DJ Ms. Hypnotique has got you covered on everything you need to know.
From Foster Care to EMPIRE — The Rise of JaYy Wick
Before we get into what went down in Florida, let me put some respect on this man’s story — because it was genuinely something special.
JaYy Wick, born Donald Anderson, is a rapper born in Port St. Lucie, Florida, but raised in Cordele and Americus, Georgia. He came into this world already fighting. Placed into the foster care system just three days after birth and officially adopted at age three, this young man never had it easy.
When his adoptive parents divorced, he was only 11 years old. That’s when he picked up a pen, started writing poetry, and never looked back.
Before music became his full-time focus, he was working a regular 9-to-5, with music living in that gray zone between passion and hobby — until he bet on himself completely by securing a deal with EMPIRE. Most people would’ve quit. JaYy Wick kept going.
Then in November 2025, he dropped “Pork Chop Sammich” — and the internet went absolutely crazy.
The track racked up over 3.5 million views across platforms, and co-signs came rolling in from industry heavyweights including G Herbo, Luh Tyler, Big Boogie, and Pooh Shiesty. That’s not luck. That’s talent meeting its moment.
Just a few months after a Thanksgiving 2025 announcement of his debut EP, JaYy Wick officially inked a deal with EMPIRE, a move poised to take him from regional standout to global contender.
He had nearly 600,000 monthly Spotify listeners, over 500K Instagram followers, and a tour already in motion — with a scheduled performance in Kansas City on May 31 at Uptown Theater. Everything was clicking.
And then came April 25th.
What Happened at Panama City Beach
Here’s where things get heavy — and I’m going to give it to you straight, because that’s what we do here.
JaYy Wick was in Panama City Beach for “229 Takeover Weekend.” According to police, the shooting occurred at approximately 11 p.m. on April 25, 2026, at Beach Access 83. There was a large party nearby, and Wick was there with his crew.
When deputies arrived, they found an 18-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital and is now reported to be in stable condition.
Now here’s the part that had everybody’s jaw on the floor.
After the alleged shooting, JaYy Wick did not flee. Authorities say he continued his night as if nothing happened, heading straight to perform at Vibez Night Club in Panama City.
Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford did not hold back when speaking to the press:
“It’s disturbing that you can shoot somebody to the point that they were almost dead and then go on to perform like that,”he said.
The Arrest — Caught in a Mall Food Court
Detectives tracked JaYy Wick from Panama City Beach all the way back to the Atlanta area, where he was arrested at what appears to be a mall food court in Clayton County, Georgia.
A firearm was recovered during the arrest. He now faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and is awaiting extradition back to Florida.
If convicted, Wick faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years to life in prison. No attorney has been publicly named, and no public statement or plea has been issued on his behalf as of this writing.
Where Things Stand for His Music Career
I have to be real with y’all — this one is heavy on multiple levels.
The most important thing here is that a young man was shot and nearly lost his life. That matters above everything else. Full stop.
But for anyone who was watching JaYy Wick’s career, the timing is gut-punching. He had real momentum — EMPIRE behind him, a viral record, hundreds of thousands of fans who connected with something genuine in his music. His upcoming tour dates now hang in the air with no answers. EMPIRE has not yet released a public statement regarding the situation.
Hip hop has seen this story before — a gifted artist standing at a crossroads between everything they worked for and one moment that could take it all away. It never gets easier to watch, no matter how many times it happens.
DJ’s Final Word
I ride for this culture every single day. I celebrate the wins, I spin the hits, and I tell the truth when it matters most.
JaYy Wick’s come-up was real. A kid from Cordele, Georgia, who turned foster care pain and poverty into Spotify streams and an EMPIRE deal — that story meant something.
But so does the teenager who got shot on a Florida beach that night.
As this case moves through the courts and extradition proceedings get underway, the hip hop world is watching closely. And so am I. Stay locked in right here because DJ Ms. Hypnotique is not going anywhere and neither is this story.
Drop your thoughts in the comments. Share this with your crew. And as always stay informed, stay real, and stay tuned. 🎙️
